In a significant stride towards improving healthcare outcomes, the Niger State Contributory Health Agency- NiCare and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) paid an advocacy visit to the District Head of Kutigi, Ezonuwan, Alhaji Muhammadu Kudu Ibrahim. The joint initiative aims to reduce zero dose and enhance health-seeking behaviour among vulnerable populations.
In his remarks, Director of Programmes and Business Development NiCare, Pharm Attahiru Shehu Malagi, explained that UNICEF supported intervention targeting children under 5 and women of reproductive age in Lavun LGA. He said this selection will benefit the Kutigi community by allowing them access to essential healthcare services and boosting their overall well-being.
Pharm. Attahiru further underscored the agency’s dedication to expanding healthcare coverage. “Our partnership with UNICEF enables us to reach more individuals and families, ensuring they receive quality healthcare.”
He also sensitised the gathering about the Niger State Contributory Health Agency-NiCare and emphasized that non-beneficiaries can register with NiCare for N12,000 per person for a year, facilitating broader access.
Ali Isaac, representing UNICEF, while extending greetings from the Chief of Kaduna Field Office, expressed gratitude to the District Head for his unwavering support in polio eradication and health improvement efforts. “Traditional institutions play a vital role in promoting community acceptance of health interventions. He stressed that the purpose of the intervention is to reduce zero dose and improve general health-seeking behaviour.
Mr. Isaac then suggested that the District Head encourage his people to utilise the free health services.
Ezonuwan Alhaji Muhammadu Kudu Ibrahim welcomed the initiative, pledging to disseminate information to Lavun environs and encourage beneficiaries to utilize the free health services. “We appreciate NiCare and UNICEF’s commitment to improving our community’s health.”
